    Bus Drivers (2) for Hallowell/Farmingdale area the 26-27 School Year

    SUMMARY:

    RSU 2 is expanding our transportation team and is currently seeking reliable, safety-focused individuals to join us as school bus drivers for the upcoming school year. This is a great opportunity for those who enjoy working with their community and making a positive impact on students’ daily lives.

    This position is minimum 20 hours a week with full-time benefits paid by employer. Employees work 186 days (176 Students days, 3 non-student workshops days and receive 7 paid holidays)

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must hold a school bus driver’s license with proper endorsements issued by the State of Maine.
    • Must have, or be able to obtain, current background check/fingerprinting (CHR-C) from the Department of Education.
    • Must pass an annual physical examination and a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
    • Show proficiency in handling and maneuvering a school bus. Has the ability to drive in adverse conditions (wind, rain, snow, sleet).
    • Has the ability to work with school staff, the public, students and passengers.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    • High school diploma or general education degree (HiSET)
    • Driving experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of general transportation operations.

    START DATE: August 2026

    SALARY: Based on 2026-2027 Wage scale: $25.94 (Step 1) -$29.68 (Step 4) based on experience and the Custodian-Driver-Nutrition Collective Bargaining Agreement 24-27.

    Reports To: Director of Transportation

    POSITION SUMMARY

    RSU 2 is seeking dedicated and experienced Van Drivers to transport students to and from locations in and around the district. This role focuses on student safety, defensive driving, timeliness, and the overall efficient transportation of students with special needs or transportation considerations.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Safely transport students to/from home and school in a district van
    • Keep to a schedule of daily pick up and drop off times
    • Manage student needs throughout the course of their transport
    • Perform a vehicle inspection to ensure safe and proper performance
    • Schedule and assure that general maintenance is performed on the vehicle in a timely manner
    • Maintain the vehicle in a clean and safe condition
    • Perform other duties as required by the Director

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • An up-to-date CHRC on file
    • A valid class C drivers’ license
    • Pass a 10-year license background check free of convictions
    • Be able to manage the physical demands required by drivers
    • Familiarity with defensive driving strategies
    • Disposition and willingness to drive students of varying ages

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
    • Experience in general transportation operations

    START DATE: As soon as possible

    SALARY: Based off the 2026-27 CBA wage Scale. $21.75/hr. (step 1) - $23.75/hr. (step 4) based on experience.

    We are seeking a dynamic gift and talented teacher to join our team!  The successful candidate will work with K-8 classroom teachers to meet the needs of and provide high-quality instruction to all learners, including gifted & talented/high performing students. Through consultation, co-teaching and direct service models, our GT Teacher will collaborate to identify the needs of students, design and deliver high-quality, differentiated instruction, and monitor student achievement through an iterative, data-informed process.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Be knowledgeable about extended learning opportunities and the whole child approach
    • Cultivate meaningful relationships with students and staff
    • Participate in ongoing professional development related to extended learning strategies and relevant content-based practices
    • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials necessary to provide individualized and small group instruction

    Extended Learning Opportunities Coordinator

    We are seeking a dynamic Extended Learning Opportunities (ELO) Coordinator to join our team!  The successful candidate possesses strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills, as well as a commitment to learner-centered, competency-based education.  The ELO Coordinator will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing ELO programs throughout our district.  This Coordinator ensures that students have equitable access to high-quality learning experiences beyond the traditional classroom, including internships, dual enrollment, independent studies, community-based projects, and competency-based credit pathways.  The Coordinator works closely with school counselors, teachers, administrators, community partners, and post-secondary institutions to design meaningful ELOs aligned with Maine’s and RSU 2’s graduation requirements.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Partner with counselors, teachers, and administrators to identify students for ELO pathways, including credit recovery, acceleration, and personalized learning.
    • Guide students and families through ELO options, learning plan development, and the application and placement process.
    • Monitor student progress and intervene proactively; support competency documentation, portfolio development, and reflective writing for credit awards.
    • Coordinate with special education and Section 504 staff to ensure required ELO accommodations are in place.
    • Maintain accurate records of student ELO plans, progress, and credit awards in the district's student information system.
    • Prepare state and local reports; ensure ELO practices comply with Maine DOE regulations, RSU 2 Board policies, and applicable law.
    • Analyze program data to identify trends and equity gaps; report findings to school and district leadership.
    • Assist with grants and funding opportunities related to ELO, work-based learning, and career-connected programming.
    • Partner with building principals, curriculum coordinators, and the Assistant Superintendent to align ELOs with school improvement and district strategic priorities.
    • Provide professional development to staff on ELO design, competency-based assessment, and community partnership protocols.
    • Serve on district and school committees related to curriculum, instruction, graduation requirements, and student support.
    • Maintain current knowledge of best practices in extended learning, competency-based education, and Maine educational policy; attend relevant professional development and state ELO networks.
    • Maintain required certifications and perform additional duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Hold current Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) certification.
    • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in education, counseling, or a related field preferred.
    • Maine teaching certification or school counseling certification preferred.
    • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in education, school counseling, career and technical education, or a related field.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of extended learning opportunities, competency-based education, or work-based learning programs preferred.
    • Experience working with high school students in secondary or post-secondary settings.
    • Knowledge of Maine’s diploma requirements, Learning Results, and Department of Education ELO guidelines preferred.
    • Experience building and maintaining partnerships with community organizations, employers, or higher education institutions preferred.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and to develop effective working relationships with students, families, school staff, community partners, and district leadership.
    • Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across two high schools.

    SALARY: Based on the Educational Technician & Secretary Collective Bargaining Agreement 25-27

    and experience. $20.59/hr. (step 1) - $28.62/hr. (step 17)
