Hall-Dale School seeks an innovative, student-centered school counselor to support students in grades 9-12. The counselor assists students achieve personal and academic success throughout their years at HDHS. The counselor will provide a variety of services to all students including social and emotional support, academic advising, and college and career planning. This position is a key leadership position within the school and is an integral part of the Student Support Team.
This person works for ten days preceding and ten days following a school year, respectively, and is responsible for light email correspondence throughout the summer.
Duties/Essential Functions
● Develops positive relationships and maintains regular contact with students on their caseload
● Provides regular individualized support in the three spheres of academic advising, post-secondary/career planning, and social-emotional support for all students on one’s caseload
● Administers a comprehensive grades 9-12 counseling curriculum based on student needs
● Assists with standardized testing (PSAT, SAT, AP, , NWEA’s, TTY, and ACT: others as appropriate)
● Administers all aspects of post-secondary search and application/admission process - develops appropriate college/program lists, assists with applications, writes recommendations, collects, completes, and sends all supporting materials
● Advises student course selection and scheduling; develops 4-year academic plans with students
● Develops practical familiarity and connections with a wide variety of colleges, universities, and other post-secondary training and study programs; stays abreast of the latest information regarding college admissions
● Consults and communicates with appropriate school personnel regarding student concerns and participates on the school-wide Student Support Team.
● Maintains professionalism: adheres to laws and ethical standards of school counseling
● Provides students with social and emotional support as needed; provides responsive crisis intervention short-term counseling; and makes appropriate referrals to the school social worker and/or outside mental health service providers
● Utilize data and assessment tools to monitor student progress and provide advice on targeted interventions.

● Communicates and works collaboratively with school counseling colleagues and the educational community as a whole
● Demonstrates a commitment to professional growth
Qualifications:
● Must hold (or be eligible to hold) the required certification - 075 School Counselor
● Experience preferred.
● Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) certification
● Excellent communication and organizational skills
● A passion for working with high school students and supporting their goals.
● Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
